Jessica Bogac-Moore is a Black Native Hawaiian illustrator with a passion for education and volunteer work. As Program Assistant for Oakland School Volunteers, these passions are able to flourish. Jessica studied Illustration at California College of the Arts where they created inclusive picture books for youth to mature audiences that tackled subject matters of representation and bodily experience within editorial, fine art, and in comics.
Jessica has served as a youth mentor at the Queen Liliu’okalani Children’s Center as well as an Art Coordinator for the CREATE One ‘Ohana LGBT youth retreat—both non-profit organizations in Hawai’i that helped shape the individual Jessica is today. Because of these experiences in receiving support, Jessica holds high value for volunteer service and the positive impact it has on community.
