Volunteer for National Computer Science Education Week
December 7 – 11, 2020
Oakland celebrates national Computer Science Education Week with the theme “beyond” because there are so many other skills used in the CS field beyond coding: art and design, music, critical thinking, problem solving, communication, more.
You can encourage Oakland students to see themselves in this bigger picture of the tech sector’s diverse career opportunities by volunteering! Check out the VIRTUAL volunteer opportunities below.
Design Your Own, Interactive Activity
Connect middle and high school students with new ideas and goals
Do you work in the sector? We would love to have you (and your team) join us and share first-hand experiences with students. Events will take place via Zoom at various times throughout the day. Both technical and non-technical roles are valuable for students.
- Prepare an interactive, online demonstration
- Visit a virtual classroom as a guest speaker / career panelist
- Share a virtual tour of your office (pre-recorded)

Please email email@example.com if you’d like to have volunteers.
We are partnering with OUSD’s CS Department to identify schools to host events, and we’d love to hear from you if you aren’t yet plugged in! (Sam Berg + Brenda Tuohy)
A big thanks to the partners that will bring opportunities and volunteers to our kids: Intel, Salesforce, The Hidden Genius Project, Kapor Center for Social Impact, and the City of Oakland. Visit oaklandisbeyond.com to learn more.
