The Ed Fund is the only organization raising money for all Oakland public schools. We’ve raised over $60 million in the last five years for programs that help students thrive. We put the right tools in students’ hands so that all of our kids get the excellent education they deserve. Just a few examples:

Coats for Kids
“I want to learn. The rain cannot stop me.” When we heard the story of students coming to Bridges Academy from Guatemala with no warm clothes just as El Nino started, we raised $20,000 to buy coats and other supplies that helped them show up to school ready to learn.

Elementary Literacy Collaborative
The ELC, a small-group tutoring program for struggling readers, saw 97 percent of its students reach grade level after entering the program far below. We wrote the grants for this and built the partnerships to launch it. Based on its success, the District has committed to expanding the program citywide.

We Got Your Back(pack)
Partnering with Family Giving Tree, in August we distributed 4,200 supply-filled backpacks to kids who need them, so they could start the new school year strong. Check out our Exposure photo narrative recapping the 2014 Backpack Drive.
