Filomena brings 25 years of development and educational experience. Having begun her career as an educator, Filomena is passionate about fundraising to provide opportunity to all students, regardless of economic circumstances, the resources needed to recognize their full potential. She has also been a lifelong advocate for social justice.
In 2015, Filomena left her native Chicago, and moved to the Bay Area to accept a multi-year contract with Katherine Delmar Burke School, an independent all girl school in San Francisco, to assist with their 20M capital campaign. Prior to joining the Ed Fund team, Filomena served as the Executive Director for FACE (Family Aid for Catholic Education) for the Oakland Diocese providing tuition scholarships to students attending elementary and secondary schools throughout Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.
Before moving to the Bay Area, Filomena spent 10 years working in higher ed development where her love of development began, as Director of Leadership Annual Giving before transitioning to a Major and Planned Giving Officer, where she qualified, identified, cultivated and solicited prospects through extensive local and regional travel covering 11 states.
Filomena earned a B.A. in History and Secondary Education at Elmhurst University. She has two adult children, a daughter, Elizabeth in Chicago and a son, Joseph in Denver. When Filomena isn’t working, she enjoys cooking, travel (pre-pandemic), hiking, cycling, following Chicago sports, and spending time with her family, friends and dog Sofia.
