Teresa Giacoman

Teresa joined the Ed Fund in June 2019 as the Volunteer Coordinator. Raised in Oakland, she graduated from Saint Mary’s College with a BA in History. During her time as an undergraduate, she volunteered with Jumpstart for Young Children, Inc., helping to deliver language, literacy, and social emotional programming to low income preschool children in Oakland. This place-based work helped solidify Teresa’s dedication to educational equity.
She went on to work as a staff member for Jumpstart at San Francisco State University and then Saint Mary’s College recruiting, training, and coaching college volunteers to do the work. Previous to joining the Ed Fund, Teresa worked at the legal nonprofit, UnCommon Law, supporting clients and their loved ones as they navigated the California discretionary parole process.
Teresa loves being part of an organization that strives for equity by providing resources that enrich children’s educational experiences in Oakland. In her free time, Teresa likes eating good food with loved ones, travelling, and hiking with her two dogs.
