We’re closing out a tumultuous year that left many wondering how we got here—and what’s next. As a community, we find ourselves at a crossroads and must choose thoughtful action to navigate the cultural challenges ahead.
At the Oakland Ed Fund, our impact this past year is a testimony to the collective efforts of our diverse and dedicated community of educators, donors, volunteers, parents, corporate sponsors, and partner organizations. We are proud of the work we’ve done together to advance educational equity in our public schools such as:
- Bringing over 700 students, families, and community members together for the first-ever Oakland Grown: Student Art & Music Festival in October
- Clearing and placing over 2,500 Oakland School Volunteers, connecting parents, community members, and corporate partners with local schools
- Awarding $254,000 in A to Z Mini-grants to teachers to use for underfunded educational and professional development opportunities
- Engaging nearly 100 high school students through our TechLink and ConstructionLink programs
- Providing $500 grants to 117 new Oakland public school teachers to help them set up their classrooms and students for success
Of course, we can’t do any of this without you. Your generosity allows us to continue this critical work.
As we look to 2025, we remain committed to fostering social justice and equity here in Oakland. Now more than ever, we are determined to be a leading catalyst of change in our public schools so every Oakland student can learn, grow, and thrive—regardless of where they live or which school they attend.
We sincerely wish you, your family, and your friends the best in the coming year as we unite to forge a kinder, more equitable world.
