About Annual Events & Volunteer Opportunities
Teachers have precious little time to prepare their classrooms before the first day of school in August. Check out these photos from previous events. We plan to celebrate this year from August 1st – 5th, 2022. We will call on hundreds of community members to step up and help with the reopening. Please register above and then we will follow up to invite you to get involved as an individual or group.
To celebrate diversity in literature and highlight representation, we host four Read-Ins every year. Hundreds of volunteers read-aloud as special guests to share a lifelong love of reading with schools across Oakland.
